Use Covid to beat your Obesity and take responsibility.

100, 000 dead and counting. What more will motivate us to change our ways?

In the U.K. where I live it was announced yesterday that over 100, 000 people have now died from Covid – 19. It’s harrowing but the number HAS to be seen as symbolic. I believe our time has come to change our ways and use this horrible time to better our lives.

I’m a fitness professional, so my vision of the future is obviously tilted towards us all being healthier. Looking at the statistics however, they cannot be ignored. It’s been proven that if you’re obese and have the health problems that go with it, your much more likely to suffer serious consequences when you contract Covid – 19.

So let’s stop.

Your time is now.

Obvious signs

It’s almost like we have come to a pivotal point in our existence, in terms of our health, climate change, the economy and how we treat each other. Only if you’ve been walking around with your head buried in the sand in blissful ignorance have you not seen this. We MUST use this pandemic as our moment to change all these things, if we don’t we have failed.

Maybe like me, you’ve noticed the selfishness of others around you. Or perhaps your selfish yourself and you simply don’t notice. What’s important is that we notice it NOW. We need to take responsibility for our own actions and criticise others less. At the end of the day, we’re grown ups.

So going back to my area of expertise which is exercise, it’s clear that we’ve reached a tipping point in how we treat our bodies.

Let’s start doing and stop not-doing.

If you are obese, or just see that your slipping down the wrong way on the scales, there’s nothing I can say or do that will motivate you to change MORE than what’s going on at the moment. The world is literally telling you that your time has come.

Take ownership

Think about it, these words shouldn’t sound aggressive or harsh, the truth is always just a little bit harder to deal with. And I know about truth (if you know me, you’ll know why.)

Start to take little steps in your fightback to your health. Don’t look at the whole journey, it’s too far. Take it a step at a time and exercise quiet inner patience. If there’s one thing we all have at the minute, it’s plenty of time to start a journey.

Start reflecting

These are sad, sad times we are living in. Lonely, tragic and depressing. But light CAN be taken out of darkness. Bravery can be yielded from fear. It’s down to you and me to look deep inside ourselves and say; ‘is this who I am?’

Use this time to change, think of the dead and the lives that are changed forever. You CAN be who you really are, if you simply use Covid to beat your obesity.

I believe in you, it’s high time you start believing in yourself.
